About the bookshop
The Wapping Project Bookshop is a beacon, a refuge and a forum. A glasshouse by day and a lighthouse by night, this is a place to read, talk and discover. Established by the luminous Lydia Fulton, and run now by journalist and editor Benjamin Eastham, this tiny independent space stocks an eclectic collection of books – contemporary art, design, photography, poetry, cookbooks, children’s literature, the best new magazines and the most vital new fiction. Each Thursday evening the bookshop is busied by talk as an author, designer or artist is invited to deliver a reading or performance. Poetry is performed and reading groups congregate, while handwritten notes guide the curious visitor towards books they might miss, but mustn’t.
Stove-warm in the winter, with a bench on which to read and talk, and spilling out onto the lawn in summer, the Wapping Project Bookshop is unique in London for its intimate atmosphere.
